Gerardo Noriega is a chemical engineer with more than 25 years of professional experience in different fields of the energy, chemical and petrochemical private industry. He is currently a Principal Consultant with EnerChemTek, Inc. based in Mexico. In his various chemicals and materials industry roles, he has gathered vast sectorial and functional expertise, having assumed roles such as market, project, financial, and strategic planning analyst in several chemical private organizations. Gerardo has assumed as well higher responsibilities including managerial positions in corporate planning, raw materials acquisitions, technical acquisitions, and commercial development. In the past eight years he has been commercial director for Latin America for Main Line Equipment Incorporated and commercial and logistics director for Dayco Products. Throughout his career Mr. Noriega has also played a role as consultant for multiple organizations. Examples of typical projects and assignments he has been involved with include:

  • Project administrator for Grupo Idesa's Morelos Complex (ethylene glycols - ethanol amines), in charge of management and monitoring of sub-contractual arrangements, procurement, and financial and physical progress of the project (from preliminary studies to start-up).
  • Study development and road-show preparation for a syndicated financing through IFC and the World Bank. In charge of the reports of project progress to the IFC.
  • Design of natural gas infrastructure for Cerámicos San José, a provider of glass bottles printing for VITRO, a leading Latin American glass manufacturer.
  • Advisory services for Goodyears' Mexican Tultitlán plant related to natural gas consumption optimization.
  • Redesign and optimization of natural gas usage for Grupo Bachoco.
  • Natural gas planning and usage for Mexican fibers producers (Interfil, Interfibras and McCormick).
  • Advisory services to Pemex Gas (the Mexican State oil company) on issues related to equipment and technologies to detect hydrocarbon leaks and concentration of gases (such as nitrogen).
  • Advisory services to private hospitals and medical clinics related to general administration, acquisitions and inventory control.
  • Warehouse and administration consulting for a multimedia company.

Gerardo has been also involved in academia and has tough courses and seminars focused on strategic planning, management of strategic acquisitions, warehouse management, logistics, and evaluation and management of capital investment projects.

Gerardo Noriega holds a B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering from Iberoamericana University in Mexico, a masters’ degree in business administration from the International Business University, and has obtained specialized diplomas in project evaluation, project administration, strategic planning and total quality. Gerardo is fluent in Spanish and English, and has some knowledge of French and Russian.
