Dr. Somogyi has conducted a wide variety of consulting assignments related to technical, regulatory, and business management aspects of performance and food chemicals; as well as technical, quality control, and nutrition aspects of food processing operations during almost 30 years.

Prior to joining EnerChemTek, Inc. as a Principal Consultant for the Food Industry, Dr. Somogyi has had experience in consulting, industry and academic research. He held the positions of Senior Consultant at SRI International; Food Industry Consultant at Etel, Inc.; Vice President at Finn Cal, Inc. (Presently Danisco, Inc.); Director, Research and Development for Vacu-Dry Co.; Project Leader at Hunt-Wesson Foods Inc., (Presently ConAgra); and Jr. Research Pomologist at the University of California, Davis.

He received his B.S. from the University of Agricultural Sciences in Budapest, and an M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Rutgers University, New Jersey. He has also been a Post-doctoral fellow at the University of California at Davis. He is also an elected fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), past chairman and outstanding member of the year of the IFT Northern California Section, a member of the American Association of Cereal Chemists, and a member of the American Oil Chemist's Society

Dr. Somogyi has published extensively as well, being author of over fifty publications and contributor to textbooks, including:
